Battlefields Tour, July 2018. Rorke’s Drift.

This is the first in a series of photos taken at the site of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift. These are the sites of two major battles in the Anglo-Zulu war.

The image shows the bridge over the Buffalo River near Rorke’s Drift.

This is the place where the British army crossed the river from Natal in January 1879, thus invading Zululand.

This picture was taken in winter, the water level would have been considerably higher in January, which is the middle of summer in South Africa.
