Emigres to America
GREEN, John George (21 May 1850, ?Pietermaritzburg, Natal – 29 Apr. 1874, Philadelphia, USA), son of William Green (1823, London – 1864, Melbourne, Australia) and Elizabeth Gogerly (1822, Ceylon – 1890, England), who left Natal with their family in 1851, and settled in Australia. In adulthood John George left the family business (land agency) in Melbourne to try his luck at the Ballarat and Bendigo goldfields. Eventually emigrated to the USA a wealthy man. He is said to have married, and to have had a daughter and possibly three sons.

HALL, Henry Bryan (1808-1884) who on 12 July 1834 married Mary Ann Dennison, d. of Matthew Dennison, shipwright, Kent, and Mary Batt.
HALL, George Richard (bapt. 13 Sep. 1818 at St Matthew’s Church, Bethnal Green, London), steel engraver, m. 12 Nov. 1842, Mary Rainy.
HALL, ?Elinor (?bapt. 28 Jan. 1816, St Matthew’s, Bethnal Green – died c.1892, Middleton, USA), who married a Mr JOYCE. Mrs Joyce left a considerable estate ($33 000).
These three were the children of Richard Hall (born c.1867), a London draper, and Mary Ann Franklin/Francklin (died 1855). Another son Thomas Wykes Hall (1812, London – 1888, Kyneton, Victoria, Australia), and family settled in Natal in 1850, but in 1852 left for Australia. Thomas’ widow and family benefited from the will of Mrs Joyce above.
Another family connection who also emigrated to the States was Mrs Amelia LAMPARD, neé DENNISON, sister of H.B. Hall’s wife. Mrs Lampard was an artist.
